HogHunter™ Lasergrips Compatibility Guide For Smith & Wesson K, L and N-Frame Revolvers Four different types of Crimson Trace HogHunter Lasergrips are available for Smith & Wesson K, L and N-Frame revolvers. Due to the variety of Smith & Wesson handguns made using these frames, Crimson Trace has developed the following compatibility and
fitting guide to ensure that customers purchase the correct Lasergrips for their guns.
Lasergrips are designed and manufactured to exact specifications for a perfect fit. It is extremely important that buyers confirm the specific model and butt style of the handgun they own before purchasing Lasergrips. Lasergrips will not fit or operate properly if installed on the wrong model of handgun.
Two pieces of information are needed to determine the correct Lasergrips model for a specific gun: the gun’s model number, and whether it is a round-butt or square-butt type. Model Number – Beginning in 1957, Smith & Wesson stamped a model number inside the yoke cut of all revolvers. It is a two-digit or three-digit number, sometimes followed by a dash and another number. This number can easily be found by opening the cylinder, and looking on the inside of the frame above the cylinder hinge.

Round-Butt or Square-Butt – The difference between a round-butt and square-butt revolver is subtle. The backstrap (back of the handle) of square-butt models slopes straight down to the bottom and forms a corner, while the backstrap of round-butt styles slightly curves inward toward the center of the grip. If you are unsure of which type you have, inquire at your local gun dealer.

Important Installation Tip – Smith & Wesson revolvers made with factory-installed rubber grips typically utilize a mounting screw and stirrup in the butt (Hogue Monogrip mount). This stirrup will need to be removed before Lasergrips can be mounted. Be sure to leave the pin holding the stirrup in place, as it also holds the Lasergrips. If you need a replacement pin, contact Smith & Wesson customer service or your local gun dealer.
